Chemicals that we avoid in our products
Parabens are used preservatives that prevent the growth of bacteria, mold, & yeast in cosmetic products. Although, it might sound great but they do more harm then good. Parabens possess estrogen, mimicking properties that are associated with risk of Breast cancer.
The chemicals are absorbed into our skin & a recent study has shown biopsy samples from breast tumors.
Synthetic colors are derived from petroleum or coal tar sources. They will cause skin irritations and is linked to ADHD in children.
The next time you go shopping have a look at some products, at the back ingredients description if you see 'FD&C, D&C followed by a number & colour, avoid them at all costs, synthetic colors are believed to be cancer causing agents.
At school when I learnt the terminology about this subject I remember coming home & throwing out every single thing associated with this subject
I threw out all of my perfume, cosmetics, candles you name it, it was in the bin!
Fragrance mixes have been associated with dermatitis, allergies, respiratory distress, just to name a few.
Sodium Lauryl sulfate (SLS) or Sodium laureth Sulfate (SLES)
SLS & SLES can be found in 90% of personal care & cleaning products.
once SLS & SLES is mixed with other chemicals it can lead to other damages like kidney & respiratory damage.
SLS's are linked to skin, lung & eye irritants
Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)
Penetration enhancer used in many products, its often found in cosmetics & skincare. PEGS's serve as emulsifiers, surfactants, cleansing agents & skin conditioners. polyethylene glycol can cause skin irritations & severe hypersensitivity reactions, it can contain contaminants & cause problems if used on broken skin.
Mineral oil (Liquid Paraffin)
Mineral oil is a common petroleum derivative, petrochemical containing neurotoxins which are toxic to your nervous system. It is a known carcinogen (cancer causing agent) and the cosmetic industry still uses them in many products. Mineral oil in products don't allow the skin to breathe & it ages the skin.
